- Please tell us the events leading to your purchasing your camper van.

Before we started having children my wife and I often went on trips in our van, but once we had our child we started considering camper vans so that we can travel without concerns with our children.

There was a colleague at work who already had a camper van from Toy-Factory and he let me have a look at it. The interior was properly done and usability seemed good, so that got me interested. I then went to camper van shows and checked out a variety of camper vans, but those from Toy-Factory were just overwhelmingly better or perhaps simply completely different from those offered by other companies, so we decided on Toy-Factory.

Naturally, their design performance of the interior was good but the way they make the camper van was not a modification that is added onto production models but they make them from scratch, the van conversion style and they are manufactured in Japan, so safety was also a deciding factor.

- How do you use your camper van?

We have been traveling to a variety of locations in Japan as a family. Our children are very delighted to go. We often go to campsites, but otherwise we stay overnight at roadside tourist stops. We went to Shikoku and just recently we also went to Hokkaido.

Other than with my family, I use the camper van to go fishing, since fishing is a hobby of mine. Since this is a camper van, I would sleep overnight in the car at my fishing spot and start fishing from early in the morning, it is very convenient. Storage of rods and other tools, just too easy.

- Do your children also enjoy riding a camper van?

Children were just wild with joy when we purchased the camper van. They were just gamboling (laugh). We split fifty-fifty with destinations of our travels, between destinations adults want to go and where children want to go. Children take proactive effort in finding out where they want to go. They apparently liked Hokkaido a lot the other day so they are telling me that they want to go there again. It is not that easy to go that far, so I am glad that they liked it (laugh).

Spending time with my family is the best joy I get out of it, and this ability to travel all over Japan as a family unit and sharing same memories together, to me, is truly something to live for.

- Can you offer some advice to those of us who might be considering purchasing a camper van?

If someone wants a camper van but is unable to make a decision to buy, I would say it is definitely better to buy. Camper vans are more expensive than regular cars so there would be some hesitation and looking at the prices for camper vans, one might even consider how many hotel accommodations such differences in prices might pay. I did started calculating like that, but the issue is not on that level, in that camper van allows you to make very many memories and have great many experiences and that is the important aspect of it. Having ten trips with your family just for the sake of staying overnight at some accommodations will not make any significant memory, but staying overnight on camper vans ten times, well you will have completely different memories for the whole family. Having different memories of trips each time is what a camper van can do for you.

I was told by people at Toy-Factory that "You must buy it before your children grow up, otherwise you will not be able to have good memories" and I could now appreciate what that meant after I purchased the camper van. Children enjoy traveling together on our camper van and I am sure that once the children grew too large we would not have had such wonderful experiences.
